Nick Virgilio

Events:

The Nick Virgilio Haiku Association invites Haiku and Poetry Lovers –all- to the 18th annual Birthday Bash at Harleigh Cemetery, Haddon Avenue, Camden on June 29 at 2 PM.  Camden's own International haiku author, Nick Virgilio, has been gone for 19 years; that fact does not stop the celebration of his life and work.  This gathering, in the lush natural setting at the lake in Harleigh Cemetery, is just down the path from Walt Whitman.

I don't know if my poetry is great....Of course, when you're into art, the more you get into it, the smaller you get, so you really can't think you're great. You get a tiny, tight package of humanity. And maybe if you are that, you're great. If you do achieve that. I don't know. If you become that modicum...that mote of the universe, that facet of the universe... then you become it all.......    And that's for everybody, not just me. That's true of anybody, whether you're a ditch digger or a priest or a poet of what. If you achieve that kind of growth... you know, maybe that's it.   ""So I want you people to write haiku too after this...'Cause you might just have a great poem in 'ya.   You never know. "
